"Chris... our family is cursed."

"By what?"

"I can't tell you. Even if I could, trust me- you don't want to know."

Chris returns to his childhood home during his college's spring break, but something feels off. His father is ignoring him, his mother is avoiding his questions, and his brother is locked in his room.

Could the key to solving this mystery be hidden in the past? Or will dredging up old family secrets only make it worse?

Includes 2 endings.

[Warnings: Includes possibly verbally abusive language, elements of child abuse, elements of neglect, gaslighting, themes of homophobia, some flashing images and possibly unsettling imagery and sounds.]

A game about the things passed down in families- looks, attitudes, and even curses.

1969, the date in the photo

Okay thank you

The True ending is great

I loved this game. It was very well done! I do wish it was longer, but I wish that for a lot of short games haha

I got both endings too, and holy crap. Lol

Glad you liked it!

Nice game. I like how you can control the characters from first person in "VHS mode".

I made a video recommending the best short horror games on itch io you can play for free! Your game was in it ofc! It is really interesting and unique! Great job! :)

omg thank you so much!

Hello, really creepy and very RED game, it is absolutely the redest game I have ever played haha, jokes aside it is a very enjoyable experience, the tension build up feels really natural and just plain uncomfortable (the good kind) talking with the family as the house distorts around us and we find the tapes.

The game looks really good and it has some nice aesthetic choices (Love the monitor/TV on effect) as well as a solid sound design.

It has some great moments like when Mom is making food and we talk to her, and Dad watching the TV, I could say more but it would be spoilery.

The only not-so-enjoyable part was the third tape, the maze one, I know there was the option to skip it but seeing so many red things while trying to get a hold of where you are makes for a not so enjoyable confusion.

That aside I think it is a really solid unsettling game with a nice background story that I feel almost anyone can relate and understand.

PS: I wanted to see under the bed!

Keep up the good work!

Thank you for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah the ending was somewhat rushed (including the 3rd tape), but I'm glad to hear all the feedback and have definitely learned a lot from making this game!

How am I supposed to pass the flower puzzle? It's very confusing. I know that I need to inspect the flowers, but I still have no idea what to do.

Ok, I might've found a bug? When I interacted with the TV while I was facing it to the left instead of below it, it brought me to the flower minigame immediately? I didn't have the 3rd tape, at the time.

Do you mean you were facing the TV directly or was there another space? I'll go ahead and look for those bugs, for now if you're playing the most recent version (1.1 I believe) then you can try downloading an older version (I think 1.02) and it should have less bugs and also skips the flower puzzle entirely. Sorry about that!

I've updated the game, let me know if you're still having issues. I'm not sure about that bug that made you play through the flower puzzle without the tape, I think it may have been part of bug-testing in a previous version that hadn't been deleted before it was uploaded. Either way, it should be gone now.

Also, thanks for letting me know about these bugs, I appreciate it!

That Flower bug is still there in the Browser version. After you find the second tape, there's an invisible solid tile right of the TV in the basement and if you interact with it, you enter the Flower part of the game.

Oh, after the second tape! Thanks for pointing it now, I'll get on it right now!
